Dick Shafner, a long time club member with years of experience in selecting and fishing with saltwater guides, will lead a discussion on what we look for when booking a good guide. Again, the casting class topic may be postponed if the wind is a rockin‘ ... in that case, we‘ll be substituting Casting in the Wind for casting portion.

Join us prior to this year‘s BFF banquet as we hold the first BFF casting games competition. Modeled after Joe Mahler‘s SW Florida Casting Games, our club tournament will consist of two divisions. One division will be for casting instructors and previous casting games winners. The other category will consist of all other competitors from our club. Prizes in each category will be a $150 gift certificate to 239 Flies for the winner and a $50 gift certificate for 2nd place. Regardless of what direction it‘s coming from, you can be very effective with your casting by learning the techniques of dealing with a gnarly wind. Stick around after class as we discuss fly fishing options in SW Florida where you don‘t need a boat.
